The Camino Called—And We Said Yes Anyway

Something special happened recently, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.
I sat down with Lauren—my co-leader for our Camino retreats—for a heart-to-heart on the Say Yes Anyway Podcast, and what unfolded was a conversation that felt both grounding and electric. We went deep into something that’s changed both of our lives in ways we never expected: the Camino de Santiago.
Maybe you’ve heard of it. Maybe it’s new to you. Either way, this ancient pilgrimage has become a space where people from all walks of life come to reconnect—with themselves, with God, and with the quiet clarity that only comes when we slow down long enough to listen.
Our paths to the Camino were totally different. Lauren had a book fall into her lap (literally!), and I got an out-of-the-blue invitation from my mom. It didn’t make a ton of sense at the time—but something in both of us said yes anyway.
This episode is all about what happened after those yeses.
We talk about how the Camino has become more than just a hike—it’s a sacred invitation. It holds space for grief, for hope, for transition, for healing. We’ve seen people walk with heavy hearts and leave with renewed vision. We’ve seen walls come down, friendships form, laughter return. It’s just that kind of journey.
We also covered the practical stuff: What’s it like going solo? (Totally doable.) Is it safe? (Very.) Do I need to be super fit? (Nope—bag transfers are a game-changer!) There’s a rhythm, a slowness, a simplicity to the Camino that welcomes you exactly as you are.
If you’ve been craving a shift, a reset, or a deeper connection with God and yourself—this might be your moment to say yes.
