4 Ways To De-Stress

I’ve been asked a lot about how to de stress.  It’s funny because I used to have a website years ago that was all about being stress free.  So that is a loaded question. There are many factors and things you can do. Here are 4 things that I’ll dive deeper into the next weeks to come.  Until then what are your thoughts on each of these topics and how can YOU see that these can be a way to de-stress?

1. Alone time is key and valuable for all people in order to stay grounded and de-stress from this stimulating life.  In our world we are surrounded by noise, opinions of others, and stimulation all the time! Setting aside time to yourself gives you time to come back to who you are, not what everyone else wants you to be. It gives you peace of mind from all the opinions of others while usually in your time alone is when you can calculate which decisions or beliefs are truly yours instead of someone elses’.  It allows you peace of mind as it’s easy to constantly be distracted by the constant stimulation.

Many people are actually afraid to be alone.  They’re afraid of being with their own thoughts, afraid of feeling alone and unwanted, all over-afraid.T here may be some things that come up for you that you had no idea was there because you were filling your time with temporary happiness to cover up some root issues that could be going on. That is the scary part for most of us we don’t want to deal with.  But in the long run is that the best approach?

There is something so freeing when you can be alone and love it!  It is a rejuvenating to your body, mind and soul that is needed in order to keep moving forward in a healthy and whole way. What do you think of alone time?

2. Moving your body is vital to rid toxins, have mental clarity, strength and focus.  Our body is an engine and in order for it to work properly, it needs to move in the way it’s designed.  Doctors prescribe yoga and other forms of movement to release cortisol and other chemicals that are being released in your body whether a good or bad stress occurs.

3. Mantra Meditation is powerful.  Our mind is powerful. We become our thoughts and then our thoughts become our reality. Whatever we think will always be very real to us.  This is why when we are stressed, usually a thought comes up that causes fear, anxiety, etc. In order to let that go we need to change it with a powerful mantra that creates the reality we actually want to live in.  For example: When I am really overwhelmed one of my favorite mantras I meditate on for a while is “For we are not given a spirit of timidity but one of power, love and a sound mind.” When I close my eyes and meditate on that mantra over and over again, it changes the chemistry of my brain and body.  It becomes my reality.

4. Get in nature.  Nature is therapeutic.  It doesn’t matter where in the world you live, whether in the city, the desert, the mountains, or by the ocean.  You can always find nature in everything. Nature brings life! You will find a calming & peaceful presence when in nature.

What resonates with you the most and where do you need to take time de-stressing?
